My Theraputic Approach
Therapy can be really overwhelming and confusing if it’s your first time seeking it out. There is so much information out there to navigate and so many different ways to do therapy. I often tell prospective clients finding a therapist is like dating, it might take awhile to find the right compatibility. The best way to do that is schedule a free consult call to see if we are a fit.
My Approach
I take a humanistic and relational lens to my work as a therapist. What that means is that I focus on the human being in front of me and their individual needs and strengths. I do not jump right to diagnosis, nor do I operate as a “blank slate.” I bring myself fully into the room with you and disclose about my own experiences when it’s helpful and appropriate.
I believe deeply that there is nothing wrong with you; instead there is something very wrong with our society. It is that misalignment that causes our challenges and issues such as anxiety and depression. My intention as your therapist is to support you in finding out where your life does not align with your values and correct that.
On a more personal level, I am a very loving and optimistic person and I try to bring a ton of compassion, warmth, and hope into my work. I practice a spiritual/pagan tradition called Druidry, which is very connected to nature and can bring elements of that into our work (but can easily leave it out if you don’t feel comfrotable with it.)
